Quick facts: Rows of stone seats once held 25,000 spectators cheering chariot races at full speed. The track stretches 325 meters long, making it one of the largest Roman circuses still visible in Western Europe.
Highlights: You can walk right through the ancient service corridors where charioteers once led their horses before racing. The remains sit directly beneath modern Tarragona's streets, so you'll see medieval buildings built literally on top of the circus vaults.

- Wear sturdy shoes with grip: the original Roman paving stones are uneven and can be slippery after rain.
