Getting around

By public transport

Your whole trip stays in New York City, so no intercity travel is needed. The subway is your backbone: the 4/5 train covers Downtown and Wall Street, while the 6 gets you to the Tenement Museum and Union Square. For Day 1, walking is best through the historic alleys of Stone Street and across the Brooklyn Bridge. Day 2, the M103 bus links the Morgan Library to the Met, or take the 6 train up to 86th Street. On Day 3, the R train crosses to Brooklyn's Dumbo, then the B38 bus runs into Fort Greene. A 7-day MetroCard is your cheapest pass. Taxis run about $15 to $30 across Manhattan; Uber and Lyft work everywhere. A rental car remains an alternative but is unnecessary and costly here.
