Posjetite muzej African American History
Best time to visit
Weekday mornings right when doors open (10 AM) are the quietest, as crowds build significantly by midday. Visit in spring or fall for the most comfortable weather if you plan to explore the surrounding National Mall.
Budget tips
Entry is free but requires a timed pass, which you can reserve online up to 30 days in advance for a small processing fee. Same-day passes are released online each morning at 6:30 AM, and no paid ticket or special pass is needed beyond the free reservation.

About
Quick facts: Housing more than 40,000 artifacts, the collections trace the journey of African Americans through centuries of history, culture, and resilience. The building's striking three-tiered bronze corona is inspired by Yoruba art from West Africa, catching sunlight differently throughout the day.
Highlights: A segregation-era Southern Railway railroad car sits inside the museum, letting visitors walk through the cramped, segregated compartments that tell a visceral story of the Great Migration. The contemplative court, a quiet oval space with water trickling down its walls, offers a moment of reflection before you descend into the history floors below.
