Datos rápidos: Junto a la plaza se alza una catedral de madera rojiza y amarilla, una de las 16 iglesias de madera protegidas por la UNESCO en la región. Desde el borde de la plaza se ven en la bahía más de 300 casas construidas sobre pilotes, llamadas palafitos.
Destacados: Las paredes de la catedral están compuestas por miles de astillas de madera, y el aire húmedo obliga a repintarlas, por lo que la iglesia cambia de color con más frecuencia que muchas otras. Desde las escaleras del borde de la plaza se abre todo el barrio de palafitos, que durante la marea baja se convierte en una vista completamente distinta en apenas unas horas.

- Head to the square in the morning, before cruise ship visitors arrive, and it will be almost empty.
- Take photos of the stilt houses from the steps at the edge of the square; the best angle is at their lower part.
- Don't forget a waterproof jacket, rain can catch you even in midsummer.
