Getting around

By public transport

Amsterdam is well served by public transport and the historic centre is easily walkable, so you will not need a car. For most sightseeing, walking is best within the canal ring and Dam Square area, while the GVB tram network, especially lines 2, 5, and 12, connects the Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum, Van Gogh Museum, and Vondelpark. Use tram 13 or 17 to reach the Anne Frank House, and tram 4 or metro line 51 for the Jewish Historical Museum. Metro line 52 links Centraal Station to NEMO. A multi-day GVB pass covers unlimited tram, bus, metro, and ferry rides. For door-to-door trips, Uber, Bolt, or Taxi.eu cost roughly 2.5 euros per kilometre. Alternatively, you could rent a car, though parking is expensive and unnecessary.
