Continue past Ta Van to the tiny Lao Giay hamlet of Ta Giang Phinh, about 5 km further south. This hamlet sees very few tourists. Follow the Muong Hoa River valley; the dirt road ends near a cluster of wooden stilt houses. Ask locals for directions to the hidden bamboo bridge crossing the stream.

The market sets up along Ngu Chi Son Street in central Sa Pa, right in front of the Sapa Stone Church. It runs from late afternoon until around 10 PM. Look for grilled skewers of marinated pork, sticky rice in bamboo tubes, and locally woven indigo scarves. Bargain respectfully starting at half the quoted price.
