Getting around

In Hanoi, walking is best within the Old Quarter and around Hoan Kiem Lake; take city bus 14 or 09 to reach the Museum of Ethnology for just a few thousand dong. For the Ha Long Bay day trip, book a shared minibus from Hanoi's Old Quarter, roughly 3.5 hours each way. Fly or take the overnight sleeper train from Hanoi's Ga Hanoi station to Hue, then continue south to Hoi An by bus or train. In Hoi An, rent a bicycle for the beach, and walk the Ancient Town. For the Mekong Delta, catch a bus from Hoi An to Ho Chi Minh City, then a local bus to Cái Răng. Use Grab motorbikes or taxis (from ~$0.4/km, apps Grab, Be, Vinasun) for short hops between transfers.
