Wadi Shab
Beste tijd om te bezoeken
The best time to arrive is early in the morning (around 8-9 a.m.), when the sun has not yet heated the rocks and the crowds are still small. During the season (October-April), the temperature is most pleasant for hiking.
Budgettips
Entrance is free, but you need to pay for the boat across the stream (0.5 OMR, about 1.3 EUR) in cash. Google whether there is a free parking lot nearby, and have cash for small purchases.

Korte feiten: Hidden deep in a rocky canyon, the waterway leads to a cave with a crystal-clear lake where you can swim. Along the way, you will have to climb over a few boulders and swim through several natural pools to reach this natural wonder.
Hoogtepunten: Deep inside the cave, when the sun's rays penetrate through an opening in the ceiling, the water ignites in a bright blue color, as if an underwater flame were burning inside. The water temperature remains cool even on the hottest summer days, and the stalactites protruding from the rocks resemble an underground cathedral.
Insidertips
- Do not forget water-resistant shoes or sandals, as most of the way you will have to wade through water.
- The hidden cave is about a 40-minute hike from the starting point, so bring snacks and water.
- Diving into the cave requires swimming skills, so if you are not confident in your abilities, limit yourself to swimming near the entrance.
- The best photos from inside the cave are taken around noon, when the sun shines directly through the opening in the ceiling.
