Rychlá fakta: Zasvěcený bohu Šivovi, tento chrám stojí na březích laguny Kavvayi v severní Kérale. Hlavním božstvem je samovzniklý (Swayambhu) Šiva lingam, o kterém místní věří, že byl objeven farmářem při orání jeho polí před staletími.
Zajímavosti: Na rozdíl od většiny kéralských chrámů s vysokými gopuramy je zde svatyně malou stavbou s nízkým stropem, do které se musíte sehnout, což vytváří intimní setkání s božstvem. Během každoročního festivalu Kalasham jsou chrámové nádrže osvětleny více než 10 000 olejovými lampami najednou a jejich odrazy se vlní na černé hladině, zatímco kněží zpívají starověké védské hymny.
