Schnelle Fakten: Rund 500.000 Besucher strömen jährlich durch die Tore, angezogen von 1.100 Hektar Wanderwegen, Feuchtgebieten und fünf klar getrennten Gartenzonen. Cootes Paradise, das 600 Hektar große Marschland im Zentrum des Geländes, beherbergt eine Brutkolonie von Graureihern und jeden Frühling und Herbst tausende durchziehende Wasservögel.
Highlights: Jeden Mai erblüht das Fliedertal mit mehr als 250 Sorten, viele vor über einem Jahrhundert gezüchtet, und der ganze Hang duftet nach Honig. Vom Cootes-Paradise-Steg in der Dämmerung erhebt sich in Zeitlupe eine Kolonie von über 200 Graureihern, die Flügel jedes Vogels fast zwei Meter breit ausgespannt.
