Highlights: Der Name Tatio bedeutet "Großvater" auf Kunza, der Sprache des Volkes, das hier lange vor den Inkas lebte. Bei Sonnenaufgang erreichen die Dampfstrahlen bis zu drei Meter in der eiskalten Luft, aber schon eine Stunde später liegt das Feld fast still.

- Dress in layers, because the temperature hovers near zero even though the ground is boiling all around you.
- Never jump into any pool. The water is over 80 degrees and has caused serious injuries in the past.
