Schnelle Fakten: Rosenborg Castle holds Denmark's crown jewels and coronation thrones in its basement vault, with three life-sized silver lions standing guard. The surrounding Kongens Have (King's Garden) is the oldest royal garden in Denmark, originally laid out for King Christian IV in the early 1600s.
Highlights: In the Knight's Hall, twelve Flemish tapestries from the 1600s depict King Christian IV's military victories, woven with real gold and silver thread that still glints under the chandeliers. The castle also houses the original Rosenborg Banquet Service, a 600-piece porcelain collection that was never actually used for a single meal.
