M/S Maritime Museum of Denmark
Beste Besuchszeit
Weekday mornings in spring or autumn offer the quietest ramps and softest light. Come at midday when angled sun filters through the glass panels overhead, casting shifting shadows across the walls.
Budgettipps
Tickets run about 165 DKK with free admission for under-18s, and the Copenhagen Card gets you in at no extra cost. Skip the paid audio guide if cash is tight; the wall-mounted signage along the ramps tells the story well enough.

Schnelle Fakten: The entire museum sits eight meters below ground level, its galleries hugging the towering granite walls of a dry dock carved out in 1856. Over 13,000 objects fill the collections, including a full lighthouse from 1912 that you can actually climb inside.
Highlights: Rather than stacked galleries, the whole place is one gently sloping ramp system that loops around the complete circumference of the granite-lined dock. Nearly 300 meters of continuous walkway let you glide from ground level to the pit floor, passing the original repair dock where huge vessels once floated directly overhead.
Insidertipps
- Wear non-slip, comfortable shoes because the concrete ramps stay damp near the dock bottom.
- Shoot from the glass bridge hovering over the deepest point, where the granite walls frame the shot perfectly.
- Go straight to the 1912 lighthouse at opening time, since lines for the climb build quickly by mid-morning.
- Start at the top of the loop on the upper level and follow the downward flow to dodge oncoming crowds.
