Schnelle Fakten: Das Tor trägt das Wappen eines Großmeisters, in Stein über dem Eingang gemeißelt, ein Symbol der Macht, die einst diesen Durchgang kontrollierte. Durch das Gewölbe des Tores haben sich seit über 300 Jahren Ritter, Soldaten und Händler bewegt.

Highlights: Innerhalb des dicken Mauerwerks des Tores befindet sich ein kleiner Wachraum, in dem Soldaten Eindringlinge aus dem Hinterhalt überraschen konnten. Die originalen Eisenbänder, die das riesige Holztor trugen, sind noch immer sichtbar und zeugen von einer vergangenen Zeit des Handwerks und der Verteidigung.

Look for the arrow slits in the stone walls on both sides of the passage, they reveal the gate's defensive function.
The best photo is taken from below with the gate framing the narrow street and the stairs behind.
Avoid hours between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM when cruise ships send large groups to the area.
Combine the visit with a trip to the Innsida Fortifications Visitor Centre nearby to better understand the defensive works.
