Food was great but expensive close to the beach. Inland towns felt authentic and cheaper. Was surprised how laid-back the vibe is even in touristy spots.
Algarve is chill with killer views but pick your time. Early fall had perfect weather, less tourists, and still warm sea. Way better than midsummer heat.
Avoid main tourist streets for dining. Try local taverns in Lagos side streets, prices are better and food is fresher. Locals know where to eat cheap and tasty.
Best way to explore is renting a car. Public transport is sparse if you want to visit small villages and hidden beaches. Gas is affordable too, which helps.
Weather in Algarve was dreamy but summer crowds get intense. Loved fresh seafood and beaches but prices can spike. Stay 5-7 days to soak it all in.
