Stille Pilger verweilen oft am kleinen Mausoleum eines verbannten Kaisers, lassen Blumen und Kerzen zurück und verleihen der Ruhe eine menschliche, ergreifende Note.
Highlights: Hoch über dem Wasser verborgen, beherbergt eine dunkle Krypta das schlichte Marmorgrab von Kaiser Karl I. von Österreich, der 1922 im Exil starb, seine Messingplatte schlicht mit „Karl" graviert. Jedes Jahr am 15. August erklimmen etwa 1.000 Menschen die steile Kopfsteinpflasterstraße für die Mariä-Himmelfahrts-Prozession, Kerzen flackern und Stimmen erheben sich, bis die weißgetünchte Kapelle in warmem Licht und Weihrauchduft erstrahlt.
