Highlights: Der damals 91-jährige Architekt I.M. Pei bereiste monatelang die muslimische Welt und fand seine Inspiration in der schlichten, geometrischen Reinheit der Ibn-Tulun-Moschee aus dem 9. Jahrhundert in Kairo. Die Steine des Museums verändern im Laufe des Tages ihre Farbe und wechseln von warmem Honigton bei Sonnenaufgang zu kühlem Silbergrau unter der Mittagssonne der Wüste.
