Best in the morning right after opening at 9:00 AM, when the crowds are smallest and the morning light beautifully illuminates the Gothic windows in the knights' hall. In autumn, the surrounding forests burst with colors, which enhances the atmosphere of the entire grounds.

Basic admission costs 70 lei (approx. 350 CZK), with discounts for students and seniors. If you plan to visit the nearby Râșnov Fortress as well, get a combined ticket for 90 lei.

Schnelle Fakten: Jährlich besuchen über 600.000 Besucher diesen Ort, die mit eigenen Augen den mit der Legende um Dracula verbundenen Ort sehen möchten. In Wirklichkeit hat Vlad der Pfähler, der angeblich als Vorlage für den Vampirgrafen diente, hier nie gewohnt. Die Burg diente hauptsächlich als Zollfestung und königliche Residenz.

Highlights: Im Innenhof befindet sich bis heute der ursprüngliche 60 Meter tiefe steinerne Brunnen, den einst türkische Gefangene von Hand ausgehoben haben. In den Kellergewölben sehen Sie einen geheimen Gang, der die Burg mit den umliegenden Wäldern verband und der königlichen Familie als Fluchtweg diente.

Instead of standing in the hour-long line at the main gate, use the side entrance through Queen Marie's Tea House. It is almost line-free.
The best photo of the castle is taken from the viewpoint by the road below the castle, where the entire silhouette including the towers is in the frame.
It is not worth buying souvenirs from the first stall at the castle. A few meters further in the foothills, they sell them for half the price.
