Schnelle Fakten: Über 300.000 Jahre natürlicher Entstehung haben das komplexe Labyrinth aus Stalaktiten und Stalagmiten in diesem Berg geschaffen. Die Höhle hält ganzjährig eine konstante Temperatur von 5 bis 7 °C und ist damit selbst bei sommerlichen Hitzewellen eine erfrischende Oase.

Highlights: Der Hlboký dóm (Tiefe Kuppel) fällt 75 Meter vom Boden bis zur Decke, mit einer einzelnen beleuchteten Säule, die zu glühen scheint, wenn das Licht genau richtig einfällt. Anders als in vielen Schauhöhlen gehen Besucher einen Einbahnrundweg, der mit einem Freiluftbalkon mit Blick über die Tatra endet und so das Mysterium der Unterwelt mit der Erhabenheit der Berge verbindet.

Wear closed-toe shoes with good grip; the walkways stay damp and some steps are steep.
Bring a light jacket or sweater even in summer, as the cave stays a constant 5-7°C inside.
Arrive right when the ticket office opens at 9 AM for the first tour of the day and smallest crowds.
Skip the cafe at the cave entrance and instead bring a snack to enjoy on the trail benches overlooking the Tatras.
