Schnelle Fakten: Die osmanische Festung in Berbera wurde von den Osmanen im 19. Jahrhundert zum Schutz des strategischen Hafens an der Küste des Golfs von Aden erbaut. Die Mauern der Festung ragen 10 Meter empor, und von ihren Türmen bietet sich ein Panoramablick auf die Stadt und das türkisfarbene Wasser des Golfs.
Highlights: Im Inneren der Festung sind originale osmanische Kanonen aus dem 19. Jahrhundert erhalten, die noch immer aufs Meer gerichtet sind, als erwarteten sie einen Angriff. Einheimische glauben, dass unter der Festung geheime unterirdische Gänge verlaufen, die sie mit dem Zentrum Berberas verbinden, aber bisher wurde keiner von ihnen gefunden.
