Schnelle Fakten: Auf 1.200 Hektar erstreckt sich dieser Stadtpark mit 17 Museen, mehreren Gärten und dem weltberühmten San Diego Zoo. Die spanische Kolonialarchitektur im Revival-Stil wurde größtenteils für die Panama-Kalifornien-Ausstellung von 1915-16 erbaut, sodass viele der prächtigen Gebäude über ein Jahrhundert alt sind.
Highlights: An jedem Sonntag findet im Orgelpavillon von 1915 ein kostenloses Konzert auf einer der größten Freiluftorgeln der Welt statt, mit 5.000 Pfeifen in der gewölbten Fassade. Hinter dem botanischen Gebäude liegt ein 60 Meter langes Lattenhaus, das mit Bougainvilleen und Farnen umhüllt ist, ein traumhafter grüner Tunnel, den die meisten Besucher einfach übersehen.
