Budget tips
Entry to the bazaar street itself is free, with the castle museum above charging around 300 lek per adult. Haggle politely on copper and wool items, and expect prices at the top of the lane near the castle to run 20 to 30 percent higher than at the lower shops.

About
Quick facts: The cobblestone bazaar follows a steep hillside path that ends directly beneath the walls of the 15th century Krujë Castle, where the national hero Skanderbeg once held out against Ottoman sieges. More than 300 traditional craft shops line this 250-meter lane, making it one of Albania's best preserved Ottoman-era market streets.
Highlights: Most stalls still operate out of the original 16th and 17th century stone storefronts, many of which have iron bars and wooden shutters untouched for centuries. Shopkeepers here still hammer out copperware by hand in the same workshops their great-grandparents used, so visitors hear the steady ring of metal on metal echoing down the lane.
Insider tips
- Wear sturdy shoes with grip, the old cobblestones get slick and uneven, especially after rain.
- Visit the lower end of the lane first for better prices, then browse upward toward the castle so you end the walk at the scenic gate.
- Ask to see the back rooms of copper shops, many keep older hand-hammered pieces separate from the newer machine-made stock.
- Stop for a glass of boza or a cup of Turkish coffee at one of the tiny cafés halfway up, the people watching from those terraces is excellent.
