The best time to arrive is early in the morning, right when it opens (10 a.m.), when there are not many visitors yet and the heat is not as exhausting. From January to March the weather is most pleasant, as you avoid both the rainy season and the scorching summer heat.
Budget tips
The entrance ticket for locals costs only 30 baht (about 0.30 EUR), while for foreign tourists it is 500 baht (about 5 EUR). Students get discounts, so it is worth having a student ID.

Quick facts: The palace is situated on an 11-meter-high platform and covers an area of more than 30,000 square meters. On the second floor, there is a domed hall called "Darbar Hall," where the walls are decorated with abundant gold ornaments.
Highlights: The domed hall of this residence was so spacious that it could hold 300 guests at once, and the wind from the nearby Buriganga River brought a fresh breeze through specially designed window openings. The terraces on the roof allowed the owners to observe river life, and at night, oil lamps were lit here, shining visible for several kilometers.
Insider tips
- Photograph the palace facade from the Buriganga River side, especially at sunset, when the pink hue becomes the most vivid.
- Wear comfortable shoes, as there are many stairs on the second floor and no elevator.
- Hire a guide at the entrance (costs about 200 baht) and you will get much more interesting stories than from the information boards.
- Avoid the midday heat from April to October, when temperatures exceed 35°C and humidity makes being there unpleasant.
