Quick facts: It is the first public university in Bangladesh named after a poet, the rebel Kazi Nazrul Islam. Its 35-acre campus is home to more than 6,000 students spread across 20 academic departments.
Highlights: The central auditorium has a 40-meter mural that visually narrates the life of the national poet, from his anti-colonial struggle to his literary work. Each year, students organize an outdoor poetry festival where they recite verses by Nazrul under the campus's century-old banyan trees.

- Visit early in the morning to see the students gathered under the trees of the central courtyard; it is the most authentic scene on campus.
- The library building has a special collection of Kazi Nazrul Islam's manuscripts that is not open to the general public, but you can request a permit in advance.
- Wear modest and comfortable clothing; women should cover their shoulders and knees out of respect for the local culture.
- Do not miss the small sculpture garden near the fine arts department; each piece was created by university students.
