How much does a trip to Fira, Greece cost?

• Fair taxi price (official, daytime): €20 - €30. Use the official taxi rank outside arrivals. Confirm the meter is running or agree on the published fixed fare before departing. Refuse drivers who approach you inside the terminal.
• Best alternative: KTEL public bus from the airport to Fira town (€2)
• Buy your ticket at the kiosk or on the bus before departure. No validation stamping is used on KTEL buses, but you must hold a valid ticket for the whole ride as inspectors do random checks. Fine without a valid ticket: €40.
• Small tips of 5 to 10 percent are customary in restaurants when service is good. Rounding up in taxis is common. Not expected but appreciated.
• Some cafes and restaurants charge a cover or service fee that appears on the bill. Ask to see the menu with prices before ordering, and check the bill for items you did not order.
• Always choose to be charged in euros and decline dynamic currency conversion at ATMs and card terminals. Prefer ATMs attached to bank branches over standalone machines, which often carry higher fees.
