- Fair taxi price (official, daytime): €15 - €20. Use the official taxi rank or book through Bolt or Uber apps. Unlicensed drivers may approach inside the terminal and quote inflated flat rates. Metered or app-fixed fares to the centre are usually 15 to 20 EUR.
- Best alternative: Bus 1 or 2 from the airport to the city centre (€1)
- Validate your paper ticket in the validator on board immediately after boarding. Electronic tickets from the Trafi or m.Ticket apps are validated by activating them on your phone before the ride. Failing to validate is treated as travelling without a ticket. Fine without a valid ticket: €30.
- Tipping is optional in restaurants, typically 5 to 10% for good service in nicer places. Not expected in taxis or small cafes. Rounding up the bill is common and welcome.
- Cover charges and service fees are not a common practice in Vilnius. Some tourist-area restaurants may add a service charge, so check the bill. Always confirm the menu shows prices before ordering, especially near the Old Town main square.
- Always choose to be charged in euros and decline dynamic currency conversion at ATMs and payment terminals. Prefer bank-attached ATMs over independent machines in tourist areas, which often have higher fees. Avoid exchanging cash at street booths near the main square, which typically offer poor rates.
