Money tips for Málaga, Spain

  • Fair taxi price (official, daytime): €20 - €30. Use the official taxi rank at the arrivals level. Metered daytime fares to the centre run roughly 20-30 euros. Decline unlicensed drivers who approach inside the terminal and confirm the meter is running before departure.
  • Best alternative: Airport Express bus (line A) from outside the arrivals terminal to Paseo del Parque in the centre. (€4)
  • Validate your ticket or tap your contactless card when boarding buses and before entering Metro gates. Tickets are single-use and cannot be reused after validation. Failing to validate is treated as travelling without a ticket. Fine without a valid ticket: €80.
  • Tipping is not obligatory. In restaurants 5-10% is appreciated for good service. Taxi drivers do not expect tips, and rounding up on tours is common but optional.
  • Most restaurants near the cathedral and along the seafront print menu prices that already include service. Be cautious of places that present menus without prices or add cover charges without stating them in advance. Bread or olives brought to the table may be charged unless you decline them.
  • Always choose to be charged in euros and decline dynamic currency conversion at ATMs and card terminals. Prefer ATMs attached to major banks, which charge lower fees than independent machines on the street. Some independent ATM brands in the centre apply high withdrawal fees; check the on-screen fee before confirming.

How we calculate

Stay is a double room shared by two (one room per two travelers).
