Schnelle Fakten: Der Hügel, auf dem der Aussichtspunkt steht, ist nach dem spanischen Konquistadoren benannt, der diese Stadt 1567 gegründet hat. An einem klaren Tag liegen zu Füßen die bunten Häuser auf Pfählen, und am Horizont jenseits des Fjords erheben sich die Vulkane des Festlandes.
Highlights: Von hier aus wirkt die gesamte Altstadt wie ein buntes Dorf, das auf dem Wasser schwebt: Die auf Pfählen stehenden Häuser reihen sich direkt unter den Füßen auf, und die beiden gelben Kirchtürme ragen über die Dächer. Die Abendsonne färbt die Fassaden der Palafitos blau, gelb und rot, und ihre Spiegelungen verdoppeln sich auf der Oberfläche des Fjords, während am Horizont die Vulkane des Festlandes hervortreten.

- Wear a waterproof jacket and sturdy footwear, because the wind blowing from the fjord is sudden and the steps are slippery after rain.
- The best photos of the stilt houses are taken from the very top tier of the viewpoint with a telephoto lens.
