Schnelle Fakten: Es ist der älteste aktive Leuchtturm an der Adria; sein Licht erstrahlte erstmals im Jahr 1818. Erst 1960 erhielt er elektrischen Strom, bis dahin wurde er von drei Wärtern in Acht-Stunden-Schichten betreut.
Highlights: Der Stein für seinen Bau wurde mit Schiffen aus dem Steinbruch auf der Insel Brač herbeigeschafft, dem gleichen Steinbruch, aus dem auch der Diokletianspalast in Split erbaut wurde. Aus 36 Metern Höhe bietet sich ein Blick auf drei Länder gleichzeitig: Kroatien, Slowenien und Italien, und an klaren Tagen sind sogar die Umrisse der Alpen zu sehen.
Insidertipps
- Wear comfortable sneakers as the path to the lighthouse is rocky and uneven, not suitable for high heels.
- The best photos are taken from the stone shore to the right of the lighthouse, where you can also capture the old stone pier in the frame.
- Avoid June weekends as it can get crowded here due to nearby campsites.
- Bring a windbreaker even in good weather, as the bora wind can appear suddenly and blow very strongly.
