Schnelle Fakten: Diese 12 Kilometer breite Caldera mit 300 Meter hohen senkrechten Wänden entstand durch einen gewaltigen Ausbruch vor rund 8.000 Jahren. Die Maasai von einst glaubten, der Grund des Kraters sei von bösen Geistern bewohnt, und warfen gefallene Krieger hinein als letzte Bestattung.
