Highlights: At the market's heart, Red Dao women set up portable sewing machines right on the pavement, stitching custom embroidery onto jackets while you wait, a tradition passed down through at least five generations. The smoky scent of grilled wild mushrooms and purple sticky rice mingles with the sound of hand-looms clicking from a dozen directions at once.

- Head to the upper end of the street around 6 PM for the best grilled meat skewers (pork with lemongrass is 10,000 VND each, about 40 cents)
