About
Quick facts: This pedestrian-only street runs about 300 meters through the heart of Shkodër's old town, named after the city's most famous painter, Kolë Idromeno. Cafés and bars line both sides, making it the social spine of the city where locals gather every evening.
Highlights: The street sits in the shadow of the Rozafa Castle hill, so at sundown the entire strip glows warm as the fortress lights up above you. Idromeno, who painted his famous "Dasma Shkodrane" in the late 1800s, lived and worked just steps from here, and his spirit still haunts the art galleries tucked between the bars.
Insider tips
- Order a macchiato at a table with a view of the castle hill rather than the standard tourist espresso
- Photograph the street from the top of the Rozafa Castle path for a perfect elevated shot at golden hour
- Skip the first few cafés near the main square, prices drop slightly further down the strip
- Come on a weekday morning if you want the street nearly empty for photos
