Quick facts: More than 200 ships dock here every day, and during peak times, up to 30,000 passengers pass through the waterfront per day. It is one of the largest river ports in South Asia, where trade and daily life buzz from early morning until late evening.
Highlights: As the sun sets and the daytime heat begins to fade, hundreds of small wooden boats light kerosene lanterns, and the air fills with the smell of fried snacks and the sound of water splashes. There are no tourist-oriented lighting systems here, only the real, centuries-old river life rituals that are filmed by both locals and visitors.
