Highlights: Die Burg Trakai, erbaut auf einer kleinen Insel mitten im Galvė-See, ist die einzige Inselburg in ganz Osteuropa. Stell dir eine steinerne Festung mit knallroten gotischen Details vor, die aus dem blaugrünen Wasser aufragt, besonders bezaubernd, wenn das Licht des Sonnenuntergangs sie golden färbt.

- Rent a kayak or rowboat to see the castle from the lake - the view from the water is unmatched.
- Visit the Karaite kiosk in the center of Trakai for authentic kibinai (minced meat in dough) before you leave.
- The inside of the castle has long queues at noon - arrive right after opening or after 4:00 PM for peace and quiet.
- Wear shoes with good grip if you plan to climb the towers - the stairs are narrow and made of wrought wood.
