Schnelle Fakten: Die Burg wurde in den 1350er Jahren erbaut und diente dem Großfürstentum Litauen als Bollwerk gegen die Deutschordensritter. Heute beherbergt sie ein Museum mit über 2.000 Exponaten, von mittelalterlichen Waffen bis hin zu Möbeln aus vergangenen Epochen.
Highlights: Das Innere der Burg wurde kürzlich mit frischen, lebhaften Wandmalereien neu gestaltet, die Szenen aus dem mittelalterlichen Hof der litauischen Herzöge darstellen. Der Thronsaal ist ein kleines Juwel mit goldenen Verzierungen und Holzschnitzereien, die einen direkt ins 14. Jahrhundert versetzen.
